In this project series entitled self, I am questioning my identity and shining light on emotions, sexuality, discomfort and what it means to truly accept who you are. The photographs are of my body, up close and from a far, nude. A focus on color and light are put into play at how both of these factors can elevate the tone of the photographs and of the motives for the photographs, using hues of blues and magentas, these colors represent passion, lust, longing, sadness, peace. Turning the camera onto myself was the catalyst that helped me question myself, my actions, my looks, and how I perceive myself to be. It was the only way I knew how to start a conversation about things that I am embarrassed of, that I am ashamed of. Though not every photograph in this series is physically of my body, they exist as surrogates that stand in for a representation of me such as palm trees and natural landscapes.
